DIY: Vintage Doily Dreamcatchers

Supplies needed:

  • Vintage doily- any color, shape or size!
  • Embroidery hoop- circumference needs to fit your doily
  • Metal rings/thread- attach doily to embroidery loop
  • Pliers/sewing needle- depending on your choice method of attaching the doily to the embroidery loop
  • Ribbons, beads, feathers- your choice of what you attach to hang from your dreamcatcher

  1. Start by attaching your doily to the embroidery loop. With this dreamcatcher we used metal rings and pliers-
  2. To create the feather strands you can either attach them to ribbon, lace, or thread by metal clamp and loop pieces (found at a crafting or jewelry supply store), or sewing the feathers on.
  3. Attach the ribbon, lace, beaded strands, feathers, and whatever you would like to the embroidery loop. You can either loop and knot them to the embroidery loop or simply knot them depending on desired look.
  • Be creative! Use beads, charms, different ribbon and lace widths and lengths, leather or suede!

Just a few of our favorite things...

Truck Yard: "Where all your truckin' dreams come true"

If you love good drinks, food, music, and atmosphere as much as we do you'll love Truck Yard. Located in Lower Greenville, Truck Yard hosts food trucks through lunch until midnight and has a full bar (beer me!). They also have a full outdoor patio with a trailer bar and a treehouse bar- in Dallas you never have to grow up!

The food trucks rotate and their schedule is posted on the website. But if you're up for adventure just go and be surprised by the options! The variety of food trucks are always tantalizing to the taste buds. In addition to the food trucks there's always Philly cheesesteaks inside. And if your sweet tooth is kickin' there's rice crispy treat ice cream sandwiches and floats from a window out front under a neon ice cream cone- RICE CRISPY TREAT ICE CREAM SANDWICHES!

The bar carries several draft beers including local breweries such as Rahr & Sons and Deep Ellum Brewery. If you're not into beer the frozen trashcan punch may be right up your alley! The trailer bar out on the patio is for canned beer and shots, and the treehouse bar carries specialty drinks that also rotate in season. There's also a stage outside that will hopefully host live music when the Texas weather warms up.

The decor is similar to that of a junk yard- there's pick up truck bed picnic tables, mismatched lawn chairs strewn around garden tables, trash can fire pits, tire and beer bottle light fixtures, and of course port-a-potties. You can let your inner red neck out to the playlist of Elvis, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, Josh Abbott Band, and classic southern rock. Combined this creates a very laid back atmosphere which is perfect for friends or families to get together and have a great time.

With love,
Kaitlyn and Chadney
